A music festival is a series of performances, of a generally celebratory nature, given by large numbers of individuals and groups over a limited period of time. The typical festival occurs annually over several days, at a fixed season of the year, and in a single city, sometimes at a single venue outdoors. Among festivals at which jazz is presented, most are devoted exclusively to this genre, while in other cases jazz forms one component of a general music or arts event. Audiences number anything from hundreds to hundreds of thousands....
