- Hugh Davies
(b Niagara Falls, NY, March 1, 1932). American sculptor. In 1961 he exhibited along with Marcel Duchamp and Robert Rauschenberg in the Art of Assemblage exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York; his work has also been shown at many galleries and other venues including colleges and universities, and is represented in collections such as those of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and Ohio State University. Jacobs taught at Ohio State University, Cornell University, Baruch College, and Hofstra University. At Hofstra, Jacobs was Professor of Sculpture from 1962 to 1995 and also Chair of the Department of Fine Arts from 1982 to 1989. He was the consultant for sculpture and collections management for the Hofstra Museum and a juror for the Fulbright grant programme in the early 1990s. In 2010 he maintained his studio in Seacliff, New York.
