Bamboo idiophone from South Sulawesi, Indonesia. It resembles the Hawaiian pu’ili. Rings hold strips of bamboo together to form a handle; the free ends form a whisk that rattles when the strips strike together. It is used with the double-headed Makassarese ganrang drums.R.A.
