Disjunct panpipe, of central Vietnam. Usually seven or nine pipes of different length comprise a set. The Triêng people of the Truong Son mountains play the longest sets, which measure from about 50 cm to more than 1 m long. Each pipe is played by one person and produces a single pitch. The repertory of this ensemble is similar to that of a gong ensemble....
