Xylophone of the Kayan and Kenyah peoples of Sarawak, Malaysia. It has 10 or 11 bars of keratong or jelutong wood tuned to a gapped pentatonic scale. The bars, graduated in length and width, are strung together with heavy cord in a raft-like arrangement attached to a wooden box resonator about 90 cm long and 40 cm tall. The player sits on the floor in front of the instrument and strikes the bars with a pair of short wooden sticks.
