Horn of the Kathmandu Valley, Nepal. It is a buffalo horn about 60 cm long, decorated with silver. A hole is made in the tip, and a 15-cm-long piece of bamboo is placed in the hole to form a mouthpiece. It is played, often in pairs (‘mother’ and ‘father’), during Newar Buddhist processions in Patan during the month of Gũlā (July/August)....
