Obsolete scraper of Vietnam. Derived from the Chinese yu, it is in the form of a wooden tiger crouching on a rectangular wooden resonator. At the end of a piece of music the tiger is struck three times on the head, and then a whisk of split bamboo is scraped once along the 27 notches forming its serrated backbone.
