Free-reed aerophone of Cambodia. It is a bamboo tube with one end stopped by a node, up to seven fingerholes and a thumbhole, and a bronze or brass free reed situated on the side of the tube near the stopped end. The player’s mouth encloses the reed. The instrument is played solo, mainly for the opening of spirit raising ceremonies, but it sometimes also accompanies song or dance....
