Spike fiddle of northern Thailand. It is about 64 cm long (shorter and larger sizes are made), with a small coconut-shell soundbox, wooden soundtable with small loose bridge, unfretted cylindrical neck, and two or three wire strings. Two frontal tuning pegs penetrate the neck at a 45-degree angle to each other; for three-stringed models, the third peg is inserted at the side.
