(b Piacenza, Italy, Aug 29, 1724; d Piacenza, Oct 7, 1811). Italian violin maker. Many of his violins were relabelled in Lorenzo Guadagnini’s name but there is no documentary evidence of an association between the two families. Lorenzini’s work is rare but has strong personal character. The model is broad and flat, with broad upper bouts. The f-holes are short and usually placed at a slight angle. His wood is very good and usually of local origin. His varnish is generally brown to gold-brown. His labels are printed with an engraved border, heart-shaped monogram, and decorative first initial....
