Struck monochord or stick zither of Slovakia. It is similar to the bumbass or ‘devil’s fiddle’ and is played (often together with accordion) for entertainment while singing. When the string, which passes over an inflated bladder or other amplifier, is struck with a small baton, and when the end of the stick is hit against the floor, rattles or jingles attached to the stick emphasize the rhythm of the song. ...
