(b Venice, Italy, Feb 5, 1809; d Venice, Italy, March 25, 1889). Italian violin maker. Son of a horn player, he was active as a violin maker from the 1830s. His instruments are based on a fairly flat model, mostly after the Guarneri ‘del Gesù’ pattern, though some modelled after Stradivari are also known.
