Double-chested fiddle of the tribal peoples of Manipur, northeast India. It is of the sārindā type, with open upper bout, and has three cotton strings (but the sananta of lvianipur has four) and a carved bird motif above the pegbox; the bow hair is of bamboo fibre. The fiddle is used in accompaniments to singing and dancing....
