Electronic keyboard instrument developed by Hugo Gernsback and built by Clyde J. Fitch at the Radio News Laboratories in New York in 1923. It was a monophonic instrument with one oscillator per note. The sound produced had a staccato articulation, and the timbre resembled a combination of those of the oboe and the flute. Gernsback later improved on the Staccatone by developing the Pianorad....
