Spike fiddle of Andhra Pradesh, south India. It is similar to the kokā of Maharashtra, and belongs to the South Asian rāvaṇhatthā type. The resonator is half a coconut; it is covered with a skin soundtable, pierced by a wooden neck. There are two strings and tuning pegs, and a wooden bridge and nut; it is about 49 cm long. The fiddle is used by mendicants for vocal accompaniment....
