Auxiliary devices that are connected either physically or wirelessly to a computer or electronic instrument. Electronic instrument peripherals include samplers, music sequencers, electronic tone generators, and the like. Devices peripheral to computers are very diverse, ranging from printers and graphic displays to speech synthesizers and robotic arms.

The term may also be used to refer to accessories used by performers, such as mutes, chin rests, tuning devices, instrument and music holders, reed-making tools, etc....
