No published libretto of La finta giardiniera acknowledges its authorship. The attribution ‘Calzabigi, revised Coltellini’ may derive from confusion with the concurrent production of Tozzi’s Orfeo. Angermüller has suggested the Roman librettist Giuseppe Petrosellini, but Italian scholars have recently questioned this attribution on stylistic grounds.
