(b Blackpool, April 6, 1948). English composer . She studied at Birmingham University, initially reading music then changing to drama and theatre arts. She worked for three years as resident composer for the Unicorn Theatre for Children (London) writing musique concrète scores and then worked for the Shared Experience theatre company. She wrote the music for the 1982 Royal Shakespeare Company productions of King Lear and Edward Bond’s Lear and has since worked extensively for the company on a freelance basis, providing music for many plays by Shakespeare and others. As well as her music for the theatre, she has produced much work for television including the music for the series Boys from the Blackstuff (1982) and Maigret (1992).
