(b Marion, IN, Feb 23, 1894; d New York, Dec 30, 1982). American harpist. She was a pupil of Henriette Renié in Paris, where she made her professional debut in 1911, followed by her New York debut in 1913. In her long career she performed in a range of places from formal concert halls to the wartime camps. Celebrated international singers with whom she played included the sopranos Alma Gluck and Frances Alda, Edouard (bass) and Jean (tenor) De Reszke, the folk-singer Yvette Gilbert, and the baritone Nelson Eddy; she played for five American presidents.
