International Federation for Choral Music [IFCM]

A non-profit membership organization that was founded in 1982 by seven national and international choral organizations from five continents: American Choral Directors Association (United States), A Coeur Joie International (France), Arbeitsgemeinschaft Europäsicher Chorverbände (Germany), Asociación Interamericana de Directores de Coros (Latin America), European Choral Association—Europa Cantal, formerly Europa Cantat—Federation Européenne des Jeunes Chorales (Europe), Japan Choral Association (Japan), and Nordisk Korforum NKK (Scandinavia).
The purpose of this newly-formed organization was to facilitate communication and exchange between choral musicians throughout the world. Over the past 29 years IFCM has created a variety of projects to fulfill its mission: the tri-annual World Symposia on Choral Music, World Youth Choir, Conductors Without Borders, World Day of Choral Singing, conducting masterclasses, and publications such as the International Choral Bulletin, World Choral Census, Cantemus, and CarminaMundi.
