(b Vincennes, IN, Oct 31, 1915; d Englewood, NJ, January 25, 2010). Pianist. From the age of five through her teens she took lessons in classical piano at Vincennes University. She began working professionally around the age of nine, and after her family moved to Gary, Indiana, she became the house pianist for the local radio station WJKS when she was only 13. In Chicago she attended the Bush Conservatory (1929–30), the Chicago Conservatory (1933), and DePaul University (1935–7). In 1938 she co-led a quintet with Johnny Bothwell. Seven years later she moved to Milwaukee, where she performed locally, worked as a studio musician for WTMJ television, joined Eddie South’s sextet (1954), and was the organist for the Milwaukee Braves baseball team (1954–62).
